What is Shatterbridge?
Shatterbridge is a setting, and the term Shatterbridge itself refers to a specific event in the setting's history. The setting started as a collaborative work under my direction, inspired by the Great War of Lordaeron RPG that took place on Scrolls of Lore. The plan after Great War was to make a new, original setting, so that any creative efforts wouldn't be wasted due to copyright licenses, and an original work provides more satisfaction than fan-fiction. I also made it clear at the very beginning of the project that I intended to maintain creative rights over the project I'd started, and still have that in mind to this day.
What was Shatterbridge?
Having said all of this, it's important to consider the first Shatterbridge project and how it went. It was a Forum RPG which took place on this forum, but it suffered from a number of organizational errors, such as having players spread out too widely so that they almost never interacted with one another. As a result, the project lost steam and I decided to start over again. Since then, I have also revised a lot of the lore and history of the setting. So, for anyone with past Shatterbridge experience, there are many things which are no longer canon.
What will Shatterbridge be?
Currently, Shatterbridge is two things. One is that it is a strategic roleplaying game with Ashenmoon as game master. Ashenmoon is a former player of both Great War and the Shatterbridge Forum RPG, and he is also a great friend of mine. The strategic game he is hosting takes place after the titular 'Shatterbridge' event, and concerns the invasion of a theocratic empire by a fanatical republic.
The second thing that defines Shatterbridge is a prequel to the titular event. By prequel we are talking thousands of years, not generations. This prequel is a Forum RPG focused on a mercenary company from Otticia. While both games take place in the same continuity, they're run by different people and there may be distinctions of creative license between them, so as not to interfere with one another.
Regardless, players should familiarize themselves with the world in the context of either one or both of the games they are playing, not using outdated sources like the old wiki we used for the first incarnation of Shatterbridge.
I think that about wraps it up. Have fun.
